We started out wanting to make life a little bit better for our loved one, then realised that we could make life so much better for so many loved ones. Initially offering companionship and social support, now offering a full range of help in and around the home.

How it all began

A few years ago, as a family, we found ourselves in a difficult situation. Our uncle died suddenly leaving my aunt alone after 60 years of being together. My aunt was fiercely independent but incredibly lonely, friends and family had moved away in past years and her husband was her world.While we tried to be there for her as often as we could, it wasn’t enough to stop the feelings of isolation she struggled with. Our aunt didn’t drive, felt she was too young to join Age Concern groups and didn’t want to join a knitting circle.

OUR JOURNEY

Sadly, it became obvious that our aunt was also suffering with Dementia.
We wanted to make sure that our aunt stayed as healthy as she could for as long as she could, we wanted to make sure she exercised physically and mentally as often as we could.Regular walks, quizzes, memory games and lots of other activities we introduced to keep our aunt engaged and healthy. Mental stimulation is incredibly important to maintain the cognitive function of a person with Dementia.

We would worry constantly that something might happen to her while she was out alone. She would get on the bus to the local shops, chatting to everyone and anyone. We would worry that some people may take advantage of her.

A service like ours would have been invaluable to us all, with two children and working full time I felt that I was always giving less than my best to my aunt, my job and my family.

OTHER SERVICES

We soon realised there were other things we could do too, offering cleaning, ironing, general odd jobs, gardening, pet sitting and dog walking services to our existing companions and anyone else too.

Services can be booked individually or as a group.

Services can be as often or as ad hoc as you like. It is completely flexible and based solely on your needs.

WHERE WE WORK

We work in and around Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Nottinghamshire. We are able to offer any of our services further afield by prior arrangement, we would make a small charge to cover travel expenses.
